Bazuson M1 is a Mechanical Beast that served as monster-of-the-week in episode 52 of the Mazinger Z anime.
Appearance[]
Bazuson M1 is a humanoid Mechanical Beast with some rather unusual features. It features mantis-like scythe hands, feet with a toothed look, buzzsaw blades extending from the shoulders, and a robotic head with a pair of lights and light screens.
Abilities and Equipment[]
Bazuson M1 mainly uses its large mantis-like claws for offense and defense as they are able to effortlessly cut through buildings and are resistant to beam attacks. It shoots lasers out of its eyes to cause whatever they touch to explode. The buzzsaws on its shoulders can be launched like boomerangs.
History[]
Before sending out the Bazuson M1, Baron Ashura had ordered the Iron Masks to construct highly sensitive microphones around the Photon Power Laboratory, so that conversation from inside could be listened to from inside the Bood. However, the first words picked up by the microphones were harsh insults between Koji Kabuto and Sayaka Yumi. Many of these insults were unfavorable comparisons to Baron Ashura, who was disgusted by the disrespectful remarks using their noble name, and ordered the destruction of the microphones and ordered the deployment of the Bazuson M1. When asked for a specific location to deploy the Bazuson, Ashura had no preference, simply wishing for the Mechanical Beast to be deployed.
The Bazuson M1 was sent out to Shimoda Port, where the Mazinger Z and Aphrodite A both faced it, refusing to cooperate due to their prior scuffle. The Bazuson used its shoulder-mounted sawblades to cut one of the Jet Scrander's wings, forcing Mazinger Z to fight it on the ground. When Koji attempted to use the Mazinger Z's Breast Fire against the Bazuson, it reached the Mazinger and cut off part of one of the heat sinks with one of its scythes before the attack could be performed. In an attempt to subdue the Mechanical Beast, Koji made the Mazinger Z curl into a ball and roll at it, breaking most of the Bazuson M1's chest armor and knocking it into the sea, and severely injuring Koji.
Baron Ashura reported to Dr. Hell about how the wounds Koji had suffered were likely fatal, and Dr. Hell ordered the repair of the Bazuson M1 and for it to be deployed against the Photon Power Laboratory. After being repaired and re-deployed, the Bazuson tore through every town and city on the way to the Laboratory. The staff at the Laboratory determined the direction from which the Bazuson was approaching the facility, with Professor Yumi noting that between the Mechanical Beast and the Photon Power Laboratory was the International Center for Disabled Children. In an effort to protect the Center, Boss went out to face the Bazuson M1 in Boss Borot. Following Boss's moving out to face the Bazuson, Sayaka went to fight the Mechanical Beast, planning to use the Mazinger Z due to its superior power to the Aphrodite A.
Boss engaged the Bazuson M1, but was stopped after its scythe cut off the top of the robot's head, angering Boss. Sayaka then arrived in the Mazinger Z, with the injured Koji following in the Aphrodite A. After failing to incur any damage due to the Mazinger's head being struck by the Bazuson's lasers while attempting to use the Breast Fire, Koji offered to pilot the Mazinger Z instead. In order to quickly get the two in the robots they were more accustomed to, Koji and Sayaka performed an acrobatic maneuver. When the Bazuson M1 rushed to cut through the Mazinger Z with one of its scythes, it was stopped by the Mazinger Z catching the blade between its hands. It pulled the scythe from the Bazuson's elbow, using it to cut off the Mechanical Beast's other forearm, and when it launched its sawblades from its shoulders, the Mazinger Z grasped one in a similar manner and flung it at the other, stopping them in midair. Now disarmed, Koji used the Breast Fire to destroy the Bazuson M1.
