The Despair of the Mazinger Angels is the thirteenth chapter of Mazinger Angels. This chapter is the conclusion of the Brocken's Revenge arc.
Summary[]
Brocken makes a public announcement to the Mazinger Angels to come to his submarine fortress Saluud in order to reclaim their robots in 24 hours. At a cafe, Prof. Nonaka discusses a plan to the Angels where everyone except Hikaru will go to the fortress in order to get the keys to the Iron Bras as she will be working on disarming the bombs. When Sayaka brings up that Brocken will suspect something with Hikaru missing, the professor states he will go disguised as Hikaru to the other's shock.
Approaching the island on boat, Hikaru wishes everyone good luck, everyone is astonished on how accurate the disguise worked, but Maria noticed that the bust is bigger to the real Hikaru's chagrin. As they set out, an Iron Cross reports to Brocken which he commands to open a path to the hall as he wants to make the Angels suffer. As the Angels storm in, the fake Hikaru notifies Sayaka that they're being invited in. Inside the hall, Brocken sarcastically greets them. When Sayaka makes a small talk with him, Brocken has his enforcers led by Poker Jo disarm their weapons with blade cards.
On top of the island, Hikaru is having a little trouble disarming the bomb on Diana A. As Brocken gloats, he reveals the detonator to the bombs telling the Angels not to do any unnecessary movements or he'll blow up their robots. He then commands Poker Jo and her squad to attack them. As the Angels are being bombarded by cards, they receive the alert that the bombs are disarmed allowing them to counterattack, using the group's own cards against them to cut their revealing outfits showing their private parts. Brocken pushes the detonator but the bombs don't go off. Hikaru then boards Diana with her Scarlet Mobile while breaking free of the chains and Iron Bra.
Enraged that his plan failed, Brocken drew out his gun but he was disarmed by a boomerang thrown by the fake Hikaru as she takes off her disguise revealing to be not Prof. Nonaka but the former Mazinger Angel Honey Kisaragi. Sayaka had heard of Honey's reputation as a legend, Honey then has everyone get out of the hall as Brocken calls for Demos F3 and Jeiser J1. The remaining Angels free their robots, as Brocken commands the Mechanical Beasts, Aphrodite A launches its Iron Cutter Missile to cleave of Demos' head to prevent its radio signal disruption. Maria, wanting a little payback has Minerva X unleash its Thunder Breaker to keep the Mechanical Beast busy. The remaining three Angels use their signature missile attacks to destroy the Mechanical Beasts. With the battle over, Honey watches the explosion from the boat while showing a concerned look.
